8th Grade

Welcome to the Eighth Grade information page. The St. Pius Eighth Grade classrooms are dedicated to help students learn to become successful high school students. All of our teachers are all using the Common Core Curriculum Standards set forth by the State of Michigan to guide instruction to ensure that our students are ready for any high school environment in the United States. Our focus is to develop leaders both in education and in the community. We offer accelerated academics in the area of mathematics and science and many opportunities for students to use technology in the classroom. Each classroom is equipped with SMART Board technology that allows interactive learning, key to success in the 21st Century. Our students attend Mass, Computers, Spanish, Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education weekly and have access to the computer lab and science lab when not in use by other classes.

Our Eighth Grade students are the leaders of the St. Pius School. They have many leadership roles in our school including leading our school in prayer and Mass, working in the school office, managing our school store, assisting with lunch duties for the elementary classrooms, and leading our Student Council.=

This is also an exciting grade for our Eighth Graders because they make their Confirmation. They complete many service projects in the process of Confirmation and attend an exciting field trip to view the live re-enactment of The Stations of the Cross.

The Eighth Grade Class Trip is also an exciting and educational trip for our students. Last year our students, with parents and teachers, went to Chicago. It is a two-day experience and students were able to attend Shedd’s Aquarium, The Field Museum of Natural History, tour one of the oldest Cathedrals in the United States, and attend a live performance in downtown Chicago.
